Laser XD aims to provide sailors with everything they need to know about the worlds most popular adult sailboat racing class. Strict one-design class rules ensure that winning comes down to the sailor and not the boat. The Laser Sailboat is a challenging sailboat which demands athleticism, subtle steering and trimming techniques, and tactical excellence. Laser XD is dedicated to helping sailors of all ages reach their full potential. The Laser sailboat is a singlehanded Olympic class boat which is also sailed at club, national and international levels. Laser XD stongly believes that Laser sailboat racing is one-design competition in its purest form. The Laser sailboat class boasts a long list of veterans who are Olympic Medalists, America's Cup Helmsman, and Collegiate All-Americans. Laser sailboat racing provides competitors the opportunity to race against sailors at the national level and emphasizes the skills necessary for anyone who aspires to compete in a high level.
Laser XD believes laser sailing teaches skills that will last a lifetime, skills that apply to every sailboat. The goal of Laser XD is to provide quality information to Laser sailors all around the world who love the competitive one design class. Its not surprising that the International Laser Class hosts more events in more nations than any other one-design class in the world. In North America alone there are over a thousand laser class events each year. There are events for everyone starting at the local club level up to international championships and Olympic laser racing. There is even an International Laser Class magazine “Laser World” as well as the North American class magazine “Laser Sailor” which lists future events, results, and the latest tips to improve your Laser sailing.
The International Laser Class Association holds a circuit of Masters events for Laser sailors over the age of 35. The Masters circuit culminates in the Laser Masters World Championship which is held annually. Laser Masters racing is the largest and most heavily attended masters racing group of any one-design class in the world. The laser is the boat for all ages and skill levels.
